A Number of Cardinals Demanded the Pope to Fire Cardinal Müller

A "number of cardinals" has allegedly asked Pope Francis to fire Cardinal Gerhard Müller as Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the radical Jesuit magazine America reports. According to America they backstabbed Müller because he “had on several occasions publicly disagreed with or distanced himself from the pope’s controversial positions" particularly concerning Amoris Laetitia.

This is a strange argument as Francis has on many occasions stressed that he is in favour of synodality and a plurality of opinions and interpretations of Amoris Laetitiae.

America believes that the Congregation under its new Prefect, archbishop Luis Ladaria is “rowing with and not against the pope on key issues, including the interpretation of 'Amoris Laetitia,' synodality and cooperation with the commission for the protection of minors".
