The mentality underlying Amoris Laetitia is “too liberal”

The mentality underlying Amoris Laetitia is “too liberal” according to retired Cardinal Jānis Pujats, 87, of Riga, Lettonia, who now works as an assistant priest.

Talking to La Fede Quotidiana (November 19) Pujats repeats the Catholic teaching that it is not possible to give Holy Communion to adulterers because they are not in the state of grace but in a state of mortal sin, “All this is part of the doctrine of the sacraments.”

He adds, “The doctrine of the Church does not change and nobody is authorized to change it. Everything is written in the Gospel and needs to be accepted. Why are we discussing about these things?”
