The desire to consecrate the world to her Immaculate Heart

Part of the message of Fatima was Our Lady's desire that the world be consecrated to her Immaculate Heart. Where would the world be safer? Where would we be better defended and protected? This Consecration "means to draw near, through the intercession of the Mother, to the very fountain of Life, which gushed forth on Golgotha. This spring flows uninterruptedly, with Redemption and grace flowing from it. Reparation for the sins of the world is continually made in it. This spring is an unceasing source of new life and holiness".

Pius XII (whose episcopal ordination had taken place precisely on May 13, 1917, the day of the first apparition) consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary the human race and, especially, the peoples of Russia. John Paul II wanted to renew it, and we can unite ourselves to it: "O Mother of men and of peoples! you who know all their sufferings and hopes, you who maternally feel all the struggles between good and evil, between light and darkness that pervade the contemporary world, accept our cry which, as if moved by the Holy Spirit, we raise directly to your heart, and embrace with the love of the Mother and of the Handmaid this world of ours, which we place under your trust and consecrate to you, filled with concern for the earthly and eternal destiny of men and peoples.

"In a special way we place under your trust and consecrate to you those men and nations who especially need this consecration. "Under thy protection we take refuge, O holy Mother of God!". "Do not cast away the supplications which we address to you in our needs!".

"Do not cast away!

"Accept our humble trust and surrender!".

Holy Mary, ever attentive to what we ask of her, will let us find refuge and shelter in her Most Pure Heart.
