The Blessed Virgin received the Holy Spirit with a unique fullness on the day of Pentecost, because her heart was the purest, the most detached, the one that in an incomparable way loved the Most Blessed Trinity the most. The Paraclete descended upon the Virgin's soul and inundated it in a new way. He is the "sweet Guest" of Mary's soul. Our Lord had promised to the one who loves God: We will come upon him and make our abode in him. This promise is realized, first of all, in Our Lady.
She, "God's masterpiece, " had been prepared with immense care by the Holy Spirit to be the living tabernacle of the Son of God. That is why the Angel greets her: Hail, full of grace. And already possessed by the Holy Spirit and filled with his grace, she received yet another new and singular fullness from him: The Holy Spirit will come upon you and overshadow you. "Redeemed in an eminent way, in anticipation of the merits of her Son, and united to Him with a close and indissoluble bond, she is enriched with the supreme prerogative and dignity of being the Mother of God the Son and, therefore, the beloved Daughter of the Father and Tabernacle of the Holy Spirit; with the gift of a grace so extraordinary that it far surpasses all creatures, heavenly and earthly ".
During her life, Our Lady grew in love for God the Father, for God the Son (her Son Jesus), for God the Holy Spirit. She corresponded to all the inspirations and motions of the Paraclete, and every time she was docile to these inspirations she received new graces. At no time did she put up the slightest resistance, she never denied God anything; the growth in supernatural and human virtues (which were under a special influence of grace) was continuous.
Those who are moved by the Spirit of God, these are children of God. No creature allowed herself to be led and guided by the Holy Spirit as our Holy Mother Mary: none lived the divine filiation as she did.
The Holy Spirit, who has dwelt in Mary since the mystery of her Immaculate Conception, came to dwell in her in a new way on the day of Pentecost. All the promises that Jesus had made about the Paraclete are fully fulfilled in the soul of the Virgin: He will bring all things to your remembrance . He will guide you to the complete truth15.
The Virgin is God's most beloved creature. For if to us, in spite of so many offenses, he receives us as the father receives the prodigal son; if to us, being sinners, he loves us with infinite love and fills us with good things every time we correspond to his graces, "if he proceeds in this way with the one who has offended him, what will he do to honor his Mother, immaculate, Virgo fidelis, Most Holy Virgin, ever faithful?
"If the love of God shows itself to be so great when the capacity of the human heart, often treacherous, is so little, what will it be in the Heart of Mary, who never put the slightest obstacle in the way of God's Will?
