The Bishops' Conference of Malawi, south-east Africa, denies that the latest scribble of Bergoglio/Fernández is about allowing "blessings" for homosexual couples.
In a 19 December document signed by eight diocesan bishops, they clarify that homosexuals and adulterers can only ask for the kind of non-liturgical blessings "that the Church has always given to those who ask for them".
Key sentence, "In order to avoid confusion among the faithful, we order that, for pastoral reasons, blessings for same-sex unions are not permitted in Malawi."
