The Bishop of Nottingham, Monsignor Patrick McKinney, issued a 40-page document entitled "Precious in My Sight" (below) in May, banning Catholic schools in his diocese from promoting homosexual propaganda ("gay pride").
The new guidelines also crack down on the promotion of
gender ideology. Teachers are told not to celebrate homosexual sins in
June because "we cannot celebrate lifestyles that are incompatible with
Church teaching".
Monsignor McKinney explains that "approving only
part of could be seen as dishonest and lead to confusion. We must
instead seek to articulate those values and principles with which we can
agree and affirm Catholic teaching in a different, distinct and
pastorally positive way".
The policy also prohibits children who
suffer from gender insecurity from using a self-chosen pronoun, name,
uniform, access to changing rooms, showers and toilets.
