How often should we go to Mass?

-In your opinion, how often should we go to Mass?

-Every day. Are you surprised; don't be surprised. To get closer to God, we must first make time for him with a little discipline. Didn't he give us life and time as a gift? So, is it so hard for us to give Him back a part of each day in return? I know that today's society has us all programmed to run from one place to another with countless excuses to deny what the spiritual third of our being needs. Man needs nourishment for his body as well as for his mind and for his spiritual life. If any one of these three dimensions is ignored, we can never achieve balance and wholeness, and therefore remain incomplete. God never wants anyone to fall behind. I assure you, from my heart, that once we give this time to Jesus, we will soon be surprised that we could have lived differently before. God brings us so much peace, so much strength and happiness. Jesus is not just another psychological aid, he is God, and therefore our true and only best friend.

Mentioning daily Mass reminds me of a lady from purgatory who appeared to me. When I asked her the usual question, she replied:

"Go and tell my children that I will be released when they offer seventy-five daily Masses for me. I am in purgatory because I did not teach them the value of the daily Mass."

So I contacted this family and told them what their mother had told me. They were not a poor family, and one of the sons remarked, "Well, we'll ask for seventy-five masses to be celebrated, and that's it". ''No,'' I told them firmly, ''that won't do, because the reason you are still in purgatory is because you have not taught yourselves the value of attending Mass on weekdays. You must attend seventy-five Masses together and carry your mother in your heart as your only intention. That is what she wants from you. After some wandering, they agreed. You see, God had an even bigger plan for them. Since I gave them this news I can safely say that they have continued to attend Mass almost daily; and in this way, what they received was ten times more than simply knowing that their mother was in Heaven. Perhaps they even saved money (laughs).
