Worse than the German Church: Barbara Butch, the French activist who parodied Christ in a Last Supper-style during the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics, is now directing artistic installations in Parisian churches.
Butch described herself as a "fat, Jewish, queer lesbian" and labelled the 2024 mockery, which featured transvestites, as the "new gay testament".
According to TribuneChrétienne.com, Butch will direct installations inside several historic Parisian churches during Paris' Nuit Blanche festival, scheduled for 6–7 June.
The initiative aims to transform the churches into spaces for sensory and participatory experiences.
One project will take place inside Saint-Laurent Church in Paris. Titled Sous la peau du ciel (“Beneath the Skin of the Sky”), this installation invites visitors to leave recorded “wishes” via telephone. These messages will then be mixed with atmospheric sounds and digitally processed to create what the organisers describe as 'living and evolving sound material'.
