The Satanic Temple will host the "largest Satanic gathering in history," according to FoxNews. SatanCon 2023 will be held April 28-30 in downtown Boston. The organization requires that "Satancon participants must be 18 years of age or older and present proof of covid vaccination. Participants must wear an N-95, KN-95 or disposable surgical mask. Bandanas, bandanas and cloth masks will not be allowed."
The Satanic Temple had requested a flag raising at Boston City Hall to commemorate "Celebrate Satan Week" in July 2021, but the city announced in October 2021 that it was no longer accepting flag raising requests at the building. The Satanic Temple filed suit in 2021 after several requests to invoke Satan at Boston City Hall were denied.
The theme of the gathering, which marks the Satanic Temple's 10th anniversary, is "Hexennacht" and commemorates the ancient German pagan holiday of May Eve. In France, it is known as "Witches' Night", especially in eastern Moselle, Lower Alsace and Upper Alsace. This European pagan festival owes its name to St. Walburge, an 8th century English nun who led the convent of Heidenheim (Germany), which became a place of pilgrimage after her death. Miraculous cures are also attributed to her, which some may consider magic or witchcraft. Her canonization took place on May 1, which naturally associated her memory with Witches' Night.
This event, as presented by the American media, seems to be entirely in line with Brigitte Macron's idea to build a giant phallus on the roof of the church of Notre-Dame, which would no doubt have been appreciated inside the satanic temple.
