Georgia's parliament on Tuesday approved a law on 'family values and the
protection of minors', which imposes significant restrictions on
homosexual propaganda.
The bill bans homosexual [pseudo-]
marriages, sex amputations, adoption by homosexual concubines, and
public advocacy and depiction of homosexual sins. Homosexual [pseudo-]
marriages performed abroad will have no validity in Georgia.
The
pro-family bill passed its third and final reading, with 84 out of 150
deputies voting in favour. It must now be signed into law by President
Salome Zourabichvili, who is at odds with the ruling Georgian Dream
party.
She will veto the bill, but parliament can override her and pass it anyway.
A
ruling party advertisement on Georgian television showed the face of
'Pride' director Jakeli next to the words 'No to moral degradation'.
