Francis' statement in Singapore, that every religion is a way to reach
God, is "clearly against divine revelation," Bishop Athanasius Schneider
told EWTN.com (September 26). He is currently in the U.S. promoting his
new book "Flee from Heresy".
Francis' statement "contradicts the entire Gospel, where Jesus Christ said: No one comes to the Father except through me".
Monsignor
Schneider repeats: "With this statement, sadly, Pope Francis clearly
contradicts the first commandment of God and the entire Gospel."
He
explains that already Peter denied Christ and that it has happened in
history, although rarely, that a successor of Peter has made statements
that are contrary to divine truth.
Asked about the appointment of
pro-homosexual theologian Don Maurizio Chiodi as an advisor to the
Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, Bishop Schneider said: "As a
bishop I cannot criticize papal appointments. This is a task of the
pope." He added that theologians who contradict the teaching of the
Church are certainly no help to the Pope.
Regarding the so-called
"sin against synodality," Schneider commented that it is invented and
not found in divine revelation. Schneider calls it a tool to undermine
divine revelation.
