Berlin Cathedral Praised for its Protestant Aura

Archbishop Heiner Koch of Berlin, Germany, consecrated St. Hedwig's Cathedral on Sunday after six years of construction.
The cathedral was built between 1747 and 1773, and rebuilt after the Second World War. The latest renovation work, which began in September 2018, cost around 44 million euros.
Archbishop Koch said at the reopening that Catholics should "find a home in this church". People who "do not share our faith" should feel attracted by the language of the architecture and the artistic design.

Berlin's Protestant Bishop Christian Stäblein said that there were Protestant churches in the vicinity of St. Hedwig's Cathedral that "look Catholic". In the case of St. Hedwig's Cathedral, one could get the impression that it is the other way round.

On Gloria.tv, Catholics mock the hemispheric altar: half dinosaur egg, southern hemisphere, concrete UFO, giant mortar, futuristic ping-pong table.
