In his open letter
to the US bishops, Francis urged them in so many words to oppose the
Trump administration's efforts to enforce US immigration laws, which are
less restrictive than those of the Vatican.
Without naming him, Francis also directly and hysterically attacked Vice President JD Vance, a convert.
Vance
last month explained the 'ordo caritatis' - the hierarchy of charity -
as written by St Thomas Aquinas: "You love your family, and then you
love your neighbour, and then you love your community, and then you love
your fellow citizens in your own country, and then after that you can
focus and prioritise the rest of the world," he said.
Francis
thinks he is smarter than St Thomas Aquinas [and Vance]: "The true ordo
amoris to be promoted is that which we discover by constantly meditating
on the parable of the 'Good Samaritan', that is, by meditating on the
love that builds a fraternity open to all without exception," Francis
wrote, adding: "Christian love is not a concentric extension of interests, gradually extended to other persons and groups."
The
predictable irony is that Francis contradicted himself, as he so often
does. On several occasions Francis has said that love does indeed extend
in concentric circles - which is common sense.
In September
2021, Francis praised the Focolare movement for its sense of unity:
"Unity in the Church, unity among all the faithful and unity throughout
the world - in concentric circles."
In
June 2019, Francis applied the concept of concentric circles to
reconciliation, telling the Franciscans: "Reconciliation with oneself,
with God, with others and with all creatures [...]. It is a
reconciliation that takes the form of concentric circles, starting from the heart and reaching out into the universe".
It
is not surprising, then, that no one listens to Francis anymore,
because with his words he tries to manipulate rather than to convey the
truth.
