Ten North Dakota representatives and two senators, all from the Republican Party, have introduced House Concurrent Resolution No. 3020 of the Sixty-ninth North Dakota Legislative Assembly.
The concurrent resolution calls on North Dakota to acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ. It states
- that Christ said, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth" (Matthew 28:18), not only spiritual but civil, including over this great state;
- that Christ is said to have received power, glory and a kingdom, so that all peoples, tribes and tongues shall serve him (Daniel 7:14), including this great state;
- that the Father is said to have given Christ all the nations and the uttermost parts of the earth for His inheritance and possession, and in response the people and their leaders are called to learn and receive instruction from Him (Psalm 2:8, 10), including those in this great state;
- that Christ is called the ruler of kings on earth and the King of kings, and is presented with a crown and royal garments (Revelation 1:5, 17:14, 19:12-13, 16);
- that the "founding fathers of this great state" began the Constitution with the words "We", the people of North Dakota, grateful to Almighty God.
The resolution quotes a certain Reverend Richard Cameron Wylie (1846-1928), who said at North Dakota's first constitutional convention in 1889, "that we desire there to be a recognition of Almighty God as the source of authority; of the Lord Jesus Christ as the rightful ruler of the nations".
Therefore, the resolutions ask that North Dakota's representatives and senators "acknowledge the Kingship of Jesus Christ over all the world, that this great State may at last receive the great blessings of true liberty, well-ordered discipline, peace and harmony.
The Secretary of State is requested to forward copies of this resolution to the President of the United States, the Governor, and each member of the North Dakota Congressional Delegation.
