A pitiful picture.
Prayer chains: thousands of faithful in Latin America pray for the health of Francis.
This Monday, even the president of the United States, Donald Trump, prayed for the pope's speedy recovery.
Thousands of faithful from all Latin America are praying and praying for the good health and speedy recovery of Pope Francis, who has been hospitalized in the Agostino Gemelli hospital in Rome, Italy, since February 14, due to a bronchitis that turned into bilateral pneumonia.
This Monday the liturgical acts dedicated to the pontiff have continued, especially in his native Argentina, where a multitudinous mass filled the Constitution Square in Buenos Aires with parishioners praying for the health of Jorge Bergoglio, who, although he has shown a slight improvement, still remains in "critical condition" and with signs of mild renal insufficiency and anemia.
According to the local press, among the participants there were banners with the message: "Pope Francis, I pray for you". The days of faith have increased in the Argentine capital since the weekend, when a photograph of the Pope was projected on the central Obelisk during the night of Saturday, February 22, with a message that read: "Francis, the city prays for you".
Masses for his recovery are replicated in all Catholic churches in Latin America, where he is recognized as a man close to the people, not only for his humane actions, condemning for example the Israeli bombings against children in Gaza, but also for his Latino identity and for breaking schemes and prejudices that this religious institution has been paying for centuries.
In Mexico, for example, hundreds of faithful participated on Sunday in an act of faith in the Basilica of Guadalupe to pray for their recovery. Convened by the Primate Archdiocese of Mexico, the faithful prayed before the 'Virgen morena', patron saint of Mexico, recalling the visit of the Argentine pontiff to the shrine in 2016.
Prayer chains are also being held in Brazil, where the image of the pope was also projected on the Christ the Redeemer monument in Rio de Janeiro.
