Bishop Santiago Gómez Sierra of Huelva, Spain, has banned a parish course aimed at [pseudo-]blessing homosexuals and adulterers.
The
parish of St. Paul in Huelva announced a course for homosexuals,
adulterers and other fornicators as spiritual formation before receiving
a "blessing. The parish referred to "the orientations of Francis in his
statement Fiducia Supplicans".
Bishop Gómez Sierra learned of
the course from the media and clarified the situation in a February 3
statement on DiocesisDeHuelva.es:
"The Bishopric has forbidden
and disallowed such courses because this way of accompanying the
Christian faithful who are in such situations does not correspond to the
Magisterium of Pope Francis nor to the pastoral practice of the
Church."
