To transmit the Christian customs of everyday life

When Paul and his immediate collaborators were passing through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, the Holy Spirit made them walk forward without allowing them to stop in the cities along the way. Finally, at Troas, Paul had a vision: a Macedonian was standing and pleading with him, saying: Come to Macedonia and help us.10 It was a pressing call, thanks to which the evangelization of Europe began. We must feel the same call from the people around us who, at times, have forgotten or are confused by the rudiments of faith. They also tell us: "Come and help us".

It is probable that the Lord is not asking us to go far away, because the environment we frequent every day is the place where the Lord wants us to carry out this new Christianization, with faith and optimism, without stopping in the face of difficulties, because "if the obstacles are great, divine grace is also more abundant: it will be He who will remove them, using each one as a lever "11. We will take advantage of all the circumstances that come our way every day: the birth or death of a relative or acquaintance, illness, family celebrations, small joys that we can help supernaturalize, offering a time to give catechesis...; we will always have the opportunity to advise a good book that brings God closer, or to give advice to someone who is having a bad time....; we shall suggest the possibility of blessing a house that is beginning to be inhabited; we shall teach how to ask the Guardian Angel for help in the small or great needs that arise; we shall set an example when blessing the table and giving thanks for the food received; we shall suggest placing an image of Our Lady in the house, which indicates that there is someone there who believes and loves the Mother of God...

These are small customs that we inherit from other generations of Christians and that we must transmit, because in them a life of faith is shaped and made practical. God becomes daily in a thousand little moments, in the greeting, in making the daily work a pleasant offering to the Lord, in the way we plan our holidays or rest... Faith penetrates everything, to enrich and supernaturalize it. At the same time, it makes it more human.

The firm conviction that the Christian vocation itself leads us to make Christ known is a step forward in this endeavor that the Pope asks of everyone. If each Christian were consistent with his faith, we would not take long to change the world: we would have made it a more human place, where living together would be easier and more pleasant, because it would be closer to God. Let us begin that work for ourselves and move others to continue it as well. In this way, the apostolate will be like the stone fallen into the lake, which gives rise to one wave and this other...12, without end. Let us ask the Lord, through the liturgy of the Mass, to grant us, through the intercession of our holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, the grace to accept your word and to come to form a people united in the confession and defence of the true faith13.

To Holy Mary, Mater Ecclesiae and Regina mundi, we ask "a Church rejuvenated, firm in unity, renewed in the eagerness for holiness and in the apostolic zeal of all its members "14 , so that Jesus may reign in all hearts and in all activities of men.
