By being elevated to the supernatural order, all human love is enlarged and strengthened because, in the Christian sacrament, divine love penetrates human love, enlarges it and sanctifies it. It is God who unites man and woman in marriage with a sacred and sanctifying bond; therefore, what God has joined together, let no man put asunder. Precisely because God unites with divine bonds, what were two bodies and two hearts become one flesh, one flesh, as one body and one heart, like the union of Christ with his Church9.
Marriage is not only a social institution; it is not only a juridical, civil and canonical state; it is also a new life, self-sacrificing, overflowing with love, sanctifying the spouses and sanctifying all those who make up the family.
It is good for us to pause during prayer with the Lord to examine various aspects of daily conduct: cordial and affectionate coexistence - free of arguments, criticism or complaints; availability for the care of the house and for the material attention of the children, siblings, grandparents...
the use of time on holidays, avoiding idleness or useless pastimes; serenity in the face of adversities; simplicity in the way of living celebrations, the Christian sense of sanctifying feasts, of planning a trip or a vacation; respect for the freedom and opinions of others, together with appropriate advice; interest in studies and formation in human and Christian virtues of the children, of the younger brothers and sisters. ...; the attention of those who require a more careful and sacrificial care and understanding, etc.
If parents love each other, with human and supernatural love, they will be exemplary and their children will look to them for answers to the many questions that life poses to them. In a joyful environment, in which the exercise of human virtues will occupy a very important place, the Christian ideal and noble human concerns will be maintained. The family then becomes a privileged place for the "constant renewal of the Church, "10 for the new evangelization of the world, to which the present Pope is calling us.
Let us ask the Blessed Virgin, Mother of Fair Love, for the abundant grace of her Son Jesus Christ for our own family and for all Christian families on earth.
