The messages of Our Lady of Beauraing

OUR LADY OF BEAURAING (Belgium, 1932–1933)…WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

In the quiet town of Beauraing, Belgium, between November 29, 1932, and January 3, 1933, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared 33 times to five children. These Marian apparitions, recognized by the Catholic Church, carry deep spiritual meaning and a powerful invitation to conversion, prayer, and trust.

Here’s what every Catholic should know about Our Lady of Beauraing, also known as the Virgin of the Golden Heart:

1. Who Were the Visionaries?

The five children who witnessed the apparitions were between 9 and 15 years old: Fernande, Gilberte, and Albert Voisin, and Andrée and Gilberte Degeimbre. All were from humble, working-class families and had no prior claims to mystical experiences. The first apparition occurred as they were walking near a local convent.

2. Mary’s Appearance and Title

Our Lady appeared as a radiant figure dressed in white, with a luminous golden heart visible on her chest, hence the title “Our Lady of the Golden Heart.”

This golden heart symbolized her Immaculate Heart full of love and sorrow for the sins of humanity and her desire to lead people closer to Jesus.

3. Her Main Messages

Although brief and simple, Mary’s messages were filled with meaning. Her words, and even her silence, spoke volumes:

“Always be good.”

“Pray, pray very much.”

“I am the Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven.”

“Do you love my Son? Do you love me?”

“I wish for a chapel to be built here.”

“I will convert sinners.”

Mary’s desire was conversion of hearts, especially through prayer and love of her Son, Jesus.

4. A Call to Families

One of the striking features of the Beauraing apparitions is the strong emphasis on family life and the role of parents. Mary expressed her concern for families and invited them to pray together and grow in holiness.

5. Recognized by the Church

After thorough investigation, the Church officially recognized the supernatural character of the apparitions in 1949. A shrine was built in Beauraing and has become a destination for pilgrims seeking healing and reconciliation.

6. Miracles and Conversions

Many people who visit Beauraing report spiritual and physical healings. More importantly, countless pilgrims have experienced deep conversions, returning to Confession, the Eucharist, and a life of prayer.

7. The Virgin’s Silent Presence

Several of the apparitions involved no spoken words. In those moments, Mary simply looked at the children with tenderness, emphasizing that her presence alone was a message, one of peace, love, and maternal care.

The Golden Heart Still Beats for You
The message of Beauraing is simple yet urgent: Pray. Love. Convert. Trust Mary to lead you to Jesus.

She didn’t come with apocalyptic warnings, but with a gentle and persistent call to holiness. Her golden heart still beats with love for each of us today.
