Milone Lost Case Against Vatican

A Vatican court of first instance has ruled against former Vatican auditor Libero Milone. He had sued the Secretariat of State for 9.3 million euros over his unfair dismissal in 2017.

The court rejected all claims for condemnation and compensation and exonerated the Secretariat of State. Milone was ordered to pay nearly €50,000 to the Holy See to cover legal costs.

Milone's collaborator Ferruccio Panicco, who also sued, died of cancer in June 2023.

This decision didn't surprise anyone. The Vatican has no independent court system.
