Rev. Víctor Hugo Montiel of the Cristo Rey parish in the Diocese of Ciudad del Este, Paragua, was caught hugging and kissing a woman in a bathrobe in a local motel.
The intimate selfies date back to 2023, but have only now been made public.
After the scandal broke, the Diocese of Ciudad del Este, recently launched an investigation. The priest was removed from the Cristo Rey parish
Rev. Montiel issued the following apology:
"I am sorry from the bottom of my heart for not being a good pastor and an example of life for everyone. There are some photos and videos that are circulating about me, they are photos from the past, and I do not deny that I have fallen, and fallen badly."
He added: "I am a human being who is also struggling to reach heaven. I have my weaknesses and my sins, so I ask you to pray for me and for so many priests so that we can be faithful to the vocation to which we are called."
