The Archdiocese of Chicago filed a lawsuit on March 24 against several
men who made false claims of sexual abuse in order to obtain financial
settlements (fraud).
The archdiocese finally understands that "false claims make it necessary to investigate all claims more aggressively".
According
to the lawsuit, the defendants include a convicted drug dealer, a
convicted murderer, two brothers who are alleged gang members.
The men conspired for years pretending to be victims of the homosexual abuser and defrocked priest Daniel McCormack.
Beginning in 2013, the defendants advised each other on what to say and how to reach attorneys.
According
to the lawsuit, they told a jailed collegue in recordings that they
needed "some free money" or they could get "paid forever" by the
archdiocese.
At the archdiocese, "they have everlasting money."
Another
one said that it would be "easy" to bring a claim against the
archdiocese, adding: "Everybody can get that s--t. Everybody."
The
archdiocese mentioned that a court has already ruled that two other
cases were fraudulent, and several others have been abandoned by the
plaintiffs and their attorneys.
The Archdiocese of Chicago has
paid several millions because of McCormack's homosexual abuse. He
pleaded guilty to multiple charges in 2007 and was sentenced to five
years in prison. In 2021, he was released from a state psychiatric
facility and lives in an apartment in Chicago.
