Raphael Bonelli, Catholic psychiatrist
and father of six, presented his new book 'Taboo: What we are not
allowed to think and why' on April 15 in Lembach, Austria. Key points of
the lecture.
-
There are reasonable, natural, functional taboos. A classic one in
psychiatry is the prohibition of incest. When healthy taboos are broken,
unhealthy taboos arise. They are dysfunctional, artificial,
ideological, and often neurotic.
- Today, nudity is no longer a
taboo. Pornography is available everywhere. But if you say 'gypsy
schnitzel', it becomes moral. We are dealing with a new decency. It is
bigoted.
- Natural taboos are similar in many cultures, they are good and help people. This is the great error of Sigmund Freund.
-
Ideology is a godless substitute religion with the same principles as a
religion. It has unfounded dogmas and an inherently contradictory moral
system. It is a religion without God, that is, the opposite of a
religion.
- When you take away the natural, God given taboos and implant new ones of your own, it's a bit like playing God.
- Climate becomes a substitute religion. When it comes to climate issues, morality comes to the fore.
-
The Nazis hated bourgeois morality. Today, this is presented as a
falsification of history. They destroyed the taboo on killing
(euthanasia) and the sexual taboo and established new taboos.
- The 1950s rehabilitated bourgeois values and thus stabilized society.
- The '68ers broke many taboos again and invented new ones. The '68ers' desire to break taboos was perverse.
- Today, a big taboo is that we no longer have freedom of speech. The most indecent people want to tell us how we should speak.
-
When a migrant stabs a child to death, there's a demonstration "against
the right". That is a mockery of the victims. The message is: the
perpetrator must be protected.
- We have imported crime.
-
Demographics: The curve has been reversed since about 1970, and we have
too few children. We need 2.1 children per woman. Austria and Germany
currently have about 1.3 children per woman. Excluding migrant women,
who have more children, the figure is 1.1.
- Following the
decline of children since 1970, in 2000, there were only 52 percent of
the autochthonous population in Austria. By 2030, it will be only 27
percent, and by 2060 only 14 percent. The rest will come from elsewhere.
-
Intelligence researchers know that the most important factor in
children's intelligence is the education of their parents. But the
educated have even fewer children. The educated class of women have
careers and "the stupid foreign women" are supposed to have the
children. It is not said, but lived: "Having children is for stupid
people".
- Gender ideology: A mother is called "birthing person".
Or: "We have to watch a man beat up a woman in a women's boxing match.
And then congratulate him when he wins. We have a massive problem with
the cerebrum."
- Abortion is a big taboo: Who are we killing? A
clump of prenatal cells or a human being? And if it is a human being,
are we allowed to kill it? When this question is asked in public,
someone starts screaming, and the next person comes with a whistle.
-
Taboo questions about Corona: Who knew what? Who paid for what? Why
does everyone keep saying the same thing? Who invented "safe and
effective"? If a 30-year-old falls and dies playing soccer, you can't
ask: Was he vaccinated? Yet myocarditis is a scientifically documented
side effect of the Covid vaccine.
- The God taboo: "God" is still
somehow accepted, but only if he doesn't bother anyone and says:
“You're all great, you're all going to heaven. I'll back off and shut
up." A God who demands 10 commandments is not an option. There is not
even the word conversion or confession in the church anymore.
-
The most amazing thing is that the Catholic Church is still alive after
2000 years with this kind of leadership. It must be the Holy Spirit.
There have been a lot of fools in the past, probably also among the
bishops.
