On 1 July, twenty riot police stormed the presbytery of Vicofaro in
Pistoia, Italy, and arrested six illegal immigrants who had refused to
be transferred to other facilities.
The parish priest of Vicofaro is Don Massimo Biancalani, a secularised Novus Ordo follower.
The
police were backed by medical personnel and firefighters. Some of the
illegal immigrants put up resistance. They were handcuffed and taken
away in police cars.
The immigrants were removed for reasons of public order and hygiene.
Don
Biancalani, a proponent of mass immigration, shouted: "It's a disgrace.
This is an enormous act of violence against me, my vulnerable young
people, and the church.”
The Italian government had ordered the
eviction, but Don Biancalani refused. Ultimately, he was even abandoned
by his own bishop, despite belonging to the anti-Catholic wing of the
clergy.
Bergoglio was one of Biancalani’s biggest fans. In April
2020, he sent him €20,000. For years, Fausto Tardelli, the bishop of
Pistoia, had also supported Biancalani. He even encouraged other parish
priests to do the same.
However, Don Biancalani transformed the parish of Vicofaro into a den of degradation, crime and public danger.
The
parish community dwindled from 7,000 to just a few dozen faithful.
Residents complained of hellish conditions of degradation, filth and
insecurity.
The
parish became an overcrowded slum with 176 immigrants sharing 70 beds.
It was infested with lice, fleas and crabs, and there were cases of
tuberculosis. There was a risk of explosion from gas cylinders, and the
hygiene conditions were third world.
Vicofaro became a
battlefield. In October 2017, one of the illegal immigrants was arrested
for drug dealing. Biancalani defended him.
In March 2018, an illegal immigrant threatened a Malian man with a knife, and another was arrested for drug dealing.
In April 2020, a violent brawl involving iron bars broke out. Residents were threatened.
In March 2021, two Gambians were arrested for drug dealing in the centre.
In April 2024, there were internal disputes resulting in injuries in the emergency room.
In December 2024, a Liberian man attempted to rape a girl in the presbytery.
In January 2025, there was a double stabbing involving illegal immigrants.
In February 2025, a Gambian stabbed a Nigerian. A TV crew was attacked with stones.
In April 2025, Mohamd Lghaoui and Adel Cherni robbed minors at knifepoint. Lghaoui also groped a 15-year-old girl.
