Since its reopening just over six months ago, more than six million people have visited Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. With an average of 35,000 visitors per day, it is currently the most visited monument in France, church rector Olivier Ribadeau Dumas told the newspaper "La Tribune Dimanche" (Sunday).

Between 16 December and 30 June, those responsible recorded a total of 6.02 million visitors. Projected over the year as a whole, the world-famous cathedral is likely to significantly surpass other visitor magnets such as the Sacré-Coeur Basilica (9 million visitors in 2024), the Louvre Museum (8.7 million) and the Eiffel Tower (6.3 million) by 2025, according to the newspaper.

The early Gothic episcopal church of Notre-Dame in Paris is a landmark of the city. Many consider it to be the epitome of French cathedrals. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the church is situated in a prominent position in the historic city centre. During renovation work, a fire broke out on 15 April 2019, destroying the roofs and roof trusses, parts of the vaults and the crossing tower. (KNA
