The unbelievable program, host by Berlin Forum of Religions, invites guests to an interreligious and racism-critical guided tour through the Christmas garden of the Charlottenburg Friedenskirche (Peace Church).
Seyran Ateş, the founder of a liberal mosque, was highly critical: "They’re attempting to cancel Christmas in some places."
"There are more and more people, as you have shown in your program, who can be described as downright Christmas haters," she told Welt.
"So the birth of Jesus Christ is associated with power games and then the question of how can we decolonize Christmas together? People from Islam sit there, theologians who teach or study at the Humboldt University, while people like us are not invited, so, liberal Muslims, secular Muslims, who see Christmas as a Christian festival and are happy to celebrate it as a Christian festival,"
