Kneeling Catholics Targeted - Cardinal Rossi’s Double Standard
Francis appointed his fellow Jesuit and fellow Argentinian as Archbishop of Córdoba in 2021 and created him a cardinal in 2023.
Suppression of Piety
Parishioners at Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish in Villa Allende, Archdiocese of Córdoba, who receive Communion while kneeling are badly treated by the parish priest, Andrés Rousseu Salet.
On December 8, Communion was reportedly denied to a young autistic girl solely because she knelt to receive the Eucharist. When the girl’s mother sought an explanation, the priest reportedly rebuffed her in person and later blocked her attempts to communicate through social media.
Subsequent appeals to the “synodal” and “open” Church authorities - including the Vatican Dicastery for Divine Worship, and the Apostolic Nunciature - received no response.
ElWanderer.com adds that Cardinal Rossi has for years remained silent in the face of repeated complaints from the faithful of this parish.
An anonymous user commenting on ElWanderer about the picture explained that the priest at the back is Rev. Daniel Nardini, adding: "He is also the same one who, wearing his stole, blessed and gave a speech at a gay civil wedding, even before Fiducia Supplicans." The user says that "he is more than a friend of His Eminence Cardinal Rossi."
Cardinal Rossi As Homosex Activist
Cardinal Rossi backed the creation of the homosexual group 'Red de Grupos de la Pastoral de la Diversidad Sexual' in the Archdiocese of Córdoba. They hold conferences, diocesan events, and homosex Eucharists.
In June 2024, the feminist website Periodicas.com.ar reported that Cardinal Rossi honoured the homosexual group 'Centu' with his presence. A homosex community coordinator said this participation is “important because it gives signals from inside about how the Church has been changing its discourse and way of accompanying.”
On 1 October 2023, during a gay propaganda pilgrimage to the Basilica of Luján, members of Centu from Córdoba posted photos on Instagram with Cardinal Rossi.
In February 2025, Rossi questioned President Milei’s Davos remarks linking homosexuality with paedophilia: "It's very sad to assume that if you're homosexual, you're a potential paedophile".
Cardinal Rossi Expells Conservatives
Another scandal involving Cardinal Rossi occurred in May 2025, when he expelled the Legion of Christ from his archdiocese. He claimed that they were not in "consonance with what is being discovered in synodality".
In response, an open synodal letter addressed to Cardinal Rossi was circulated online. The letter argued that excluding the Legion of Christ contradicted the spirit of synodality, and called for transparency regarding the reasoning and process behind the decision. Cardinal Rossi has not issued a documented response.
Leo XIV is "Gift of God"
In the days following the May conclave, Cardinal Rossi called the election of Leo XIV "a gift from God".
He is “the man the church and the world need right now”.
Cardinal Rossi insisted that Leo XIV follows “the same line” as Francis and any discontinuity is only in "some external things": "But he’s no dinosaur. He isn’t trying to go backwards.”
