During last Sunday's 10:30 a.m. Mass in the central nave of St Peter's Basilica, presided over by Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, two sacrileges occurred during Holy Communion.
In one case, a man received at least two or three consecrated hosts and returned to his seat to distribute them to others. In the other case, a woman, seemingly unfamiliar with the setting, placed a consecrated host in the mouth of a child aged around four or five. The child reacted uncertainly, briefly appearing as though the child was about to spit out the Host, before being reassured.
