Apparitions of Jesus in the Eucharist

### 1. Douai, France (1254)
On Easter Day in 1254, a priest was distributing Holy Communion in the town of Douai when a Host fell to the ground. He bent down to pick it up, but the Host rose by itself and flew to the purificator on the altar. Upon closer inspection, he observed the living body of a wondrous child within the Host. All who approached saw the same. Thomas of Cantimpré, Doctor of Theology and Bishop of Cambrai, testified to this prodigy in his book *“Bonum universale de apibus.”* In this work, he states that most saw Him as a child, others as the adult Christ, and others as a Judge—each according to their spiritual capacity or need. There are other documents regarding this miracle.

### 2. Ulmes, France (1668)
On June 2, 1668, at 7:00 p.m. in Ulmes, the parish priest, Nicolas Nezan, was about to give the blessing with the Blessed Sacrament to the 200 people present. After the incensing, the hymn *“Pange Lingua”* was sung. At the words *“Verbum caro panem verum,”* the luminous face of a man appeared in the Host within the monstrance. The apparition lasted a quarter of an hour and was visible to everyone. Just before it disappeared, a small cloud formed around the Host until everything returned to normal. This miracle is firmly supported by many documents.

### 3. Hartmannswiller, France (1828)
On June 12, 13, and 14, 1828, in Hartmannswiller (Alsace region), following the blessing with the Blessed Sacrament, approximately 600 people were able to see the Host shining like a sun, and within it, the face of the Child God.

### 4. Saint-André, Réunion (1902)
On January 26, 1902, in the Church of Saint-André (27 km from St. Denis, Réunion), during the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., thousands of people saw the face of Christ in the Host. He appeared sorrowful, with His eyes closed, His head tilted, and tears on His face. Near the end of the Exposition, a crucifix could be clearly seen. The Host is still preserved today.

### 5. Scala, Italy (1732)
Other testimonies regarding apparitions in the Host are told of the Redemptorist Convent in Scala. Over the course of four days, at the moment of the blessing with the Blessed Sacrament, a luminous cross appeared over a mountain, surrounded by the instruments of the Passion. This miracle, certified by Saint Alphonsus Maria de Liguori, occurred in 1732.

### 6. Bordeaux, France (1822)
In the Convent of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Bordeaux, on February 3, 1822, the face of Christ appeared in the Host during Exposition. He appeared as an extraordinarily beautiful young man of about thirty years old. The apparition lasted about twenty minutes, and the Bishop recognized the authenticity of the miracle.

### 7. Mouré, Portugal (1996)
On May 18 and 19, 1996, in the Portuguese village of Mouré (Braga district and diocese), an extraordinary event occurred that was reported by global media. During the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the parish church, everyone could see—on the surface of the nine-centimeter Host—a half-body image of Jesus. He appeared with His head crowned with thorns, His eyes open and looking down, and His hands crossed over His chest. According to the testimonies of the hundreds of witnesses, He looked *"tristinho"* (sorrowful).

This prodigy remained visible even with all the church lights turned off, as an interior light emanated from the Host itself. There stood the glorious and risen Jesus, yet simultaneously suffering at the sight of such indifference and abandonment toward the great mystery of love.
