The Diocese of Cremona, Italy, has announced two spring events flirting
with homosexuality. A biblical-theological meeting will take place on
April 24, followed by a prayer vigil on May 8 at the Church of San
Giuseppe in Cambonino.
The April meeting, led by Jesuit priest
Father Iuri Sandrin, is intended to reflect on how homosexual
relationships raise questions for Christian communities.
The May
vigil, presided over by Bishop Antonio Napolioni, is described as being
for the overcoming of discrimination, particularly "homophobia" and
"transphobia".
According to the diocese, the initiatives aim to “help” homosexuals to feel more included in the Church.
The
announcement also references a 2025 synodal document by the Italian
Bishops’ Conference, which encourages local Churches to promote
homosexualism.
In November 2018, Monsignor Napolioni held an ecumenical prayer vigil with Methodists and Seventh-day Adventists in Cremona.
