Child Prostitution in France Increases by 43% in Four Years
Up until the year 2025, 704 children involved in prostitution were identified. Of these, 416 were recognized as "victims of human trafficking," and it was determined that 288 had been forced into prostitution.
Almost all identified children were girls (94%). The number of convictions related to prostitution doubled between 2017 and 2024.
According to the latest official data, there are 40,000 people involved in prostitution in France. Although prostitution itself is not a crime, clients are punished for using these services. They can be fined between €1,500 and €3,700 or, if they use the services of a minor, they can be sentenced to up to seven years in prison and a fine of €100,000.
