Class-action lawsuit against facial recognition at Disneyland

A new $5 million class-action lawsuit accuses Disney of collecting biometric data from its visitors in California without proper consent.

The system, implemented to expedite access and prevent fraud, scans the faces of thousands of people daily, which the plaintiffs say constitutes undisclosed mass surveillance that even affects minors.

The lawsuit criticizes the opt-out process as insufficient and difficult to detect. Furthermore, it questions the veracity of Disney's data deletion policy, arguing that continuous facial comparison is inconsistent with its privacy promises, suggesting that the company is building extensive surveillance profiles.
