Milan expels Jesus from the square and sends him to the catacombs

 Archbishop Mario Delpini of Milan has cancelled the traditional Corpus Christi procession through the city, replacing it with a walk inside Milan Cathedral. 

 

He cited traffic and overtourism as reasons, saying the procession risked becoming a “folkloric event.” 

 

Critics responded that Milan’s city centre is largely pedestrianised and questioned why major secular events like the Giro d’Italia or homosexual marches can still take over the streets, while a Eucharistic procession can´t
