The Encylclical’s Section Inventing Lay Governance:

In a May 25 video, Raymond Arroyo flagged Paragraph 87 of Leo XIV’s encyclical Magnifica Humanitas because it calls for "the participation of the baptized in decision-making processes" within the Church.

Fr. Gerald Murray responded that the language comes directly from the Synod’s final document: "This is lay governance in the Church. This is this new theory that the power to govern in the Church is derived from the sacrament of baptism, not from the sacrament of holy orders. This has no place in a document about social justice and AI.

This is just a further lobbying effort to try and convince people that the way the Church has been run from the beginning — which is that the apostles and their successors are the shepherds who take care of the flock — that that’s being discarded. It’s regrettable to say the least."
