According to today's report on MessaInLatino.it, Sister Alessandra Smerilli, the current Secretary of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, is set to become the Prefect of the same Dicastery.
The decree has reportedly already been signed, but there has been considerable upheaval in the Vatican. Cardinal Fabio Baggio, the current Undersecretary, is expected to be appointed Pro-Prefect or Secretary.
Sister Smerilli was one of Francis's most trusted lay religious advisers and a promoter of synodality, women's leadership in church governance and integral ecology. She is also a frequent participant in UN, G20 and interfaith initiatives.
