Today, Leo XIV appointed Monsignor Christian Würtz, 55, as Bishop of Eichstätt, Germany. Leo XIV again chose a canon lawyer. A native of Karlsruhe, he originally studied law at Heidelberg University before entering the seminary. He holds two doctorates - one in both civil and canon law (doctor iuris utriusque) and another in theology. He also served as rector of Freiburg's seminary. Bishop Crowned As "Protector of the Buddha's Teaching" On June 13, Bishop Olivier Schmitthaeusler, Apostolic Vicar of Phnom Penh, accepted the title Akka Mahā Upāsaka Buddha Sāsanūpatthambhakr ("Elder Great Lay Supporter and Upholder of the Buddha's Dispensation") at the temple Wat Botum Vatey in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
