In March 2023, in Lebanon, a young man named Charbel Jihad Kassouf suffered severe burns after entering a burning building to rescue trapped people. Given the severity of his injuries and the medical distress, his family feared the worst.
While the doctors exhausted all medical options, his mother turned to incessant prayer day and night, asking for the intercession of Saint Charbel. Sometime later, according to the testimony recorded at the Shrine of Annaya, the young man shared that while unconscious, he experienced the presence of the Maronite monk saint offering a word of encouragement: "Get up... you are not going to die here."
Against all clinical odds, the young man managed to recover. Beyond the extraordinary nature of the event, this story has become a testament to strength and filial trust for thousands of families facing times of pain or difficult diagnoses.
Faith does not exempt us from suffering, but it sustains us through it. Every prayer offered with a sincere and trusting heart is heard by God, reminding us that in the darkest moments, we are never alone.
