WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus responded on X.com after an older video of Bishop Athanasius Schneider resurfaced online.
In the video, Bishop Schneider describes mass immigration into Europe as an invasion aimed at islamising the continent and argues it threatens Europe's Christian heritage.
Tedros said calling immigrants "invaders" dehumanises them and argued many are families fleeing war, hunger, and hardship. He added that migration should be managed with order and fairness but distinguished that from "demonising" immigrants.
