On 6 August 1945, an atomic bomb destroyed Hiroshima. One kilometre from the hypocentre, a house of eight Jesuit priests was still standing, and the men inside were alive.
Father Hubert Schiffer described the moment: "An invisible force lifted me from the chair, hurled me through the air, shook me, battered me, whirled me round and round like a leaf in a gust of autumn wind."
He lived another 37 years, spoke about it around the world, and wrote a booklet called The Rosary of Hiroshima. He gave one answer for why they survived: "We believe that we survived because we were living the message of Fatima. We lived and prayed the Rosary daily in that home."
