Let's respect those who request euthanasia -Zuppi

Speaking on Luca Zaia's podcast Il Fienile in late July 2026, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi of Bologna, President of the Italian Bishops' Conference, said: "I know well that those who are ill don't wait for the law. There are also regions acting in a fragmented way. Politics should find a mediation.

I've met sick people who wanted to leave. In these cases, respect is needed. The only choice you can make is to stay close to those who are suffering, which doesn't mean giving up your principles."
