Canada’s MAID program has surpassed 100,000 deaths since assisted suicide was legalized in 2016. The debate has intensified after the death of 83-year-old Brigitte Stegemann in Ontario. More than 16,000 MAID deaths were recorded in 2024, while a further expansion involving mental illness is scheduled for 2027.
