Leo XIV-appointed Spanish bishop wants to welcome homosexuals, prostitutes and adulterers "as they are".
On Wednesday, Bishop Satué told religious brotherhoods in Cádiz that they must “joyfully welcome the homosexual couple, the married couple with several children, the university student, the prostitute, the divorced and remarried person, and the devout woman who prays the rosary before Mass”.
According to DiariodeCadiz.es on 29 October, he said that 'everyone is called to be a living stone of the Church within the brotherhood'.
Monsignor Satué added that everyone should feel “welcomed, respected and loved just as they are”.
Pope Leo XIV appointed Satué as Bishop of Málaga in June 2025, despite his public record as a supporter of homosexuality. He had described blessings for same-sex couples as 'a step forward' for the Church.
