Leo XIV appoints “effectively liberal Protestants” as bishops, says philosopher Thomas Pink.
Speaking to TheCatholicHerald.com on November 6, Pink criticizes Rome's treatment of the FSSPX, despite having “very little sympathy” for it.
He considers excommunication of those directly involved in illicit episcopal consecrations fair, but opposes extending it to ordinary clergy and faithful.
“You can't threaten them with excommunication when you're appointing effective liberal Protestants as their bishops,” he argues, calling this “a form of abuse.”
Pink sees little theological difference between Leo XIV and Francis, criticizes Leo's appointment of a less conservative bishop in Eichstätt, and doubts Traditionis Custodes will be repealed soon.
