During the four week hearings against Cardinal George Pell both the bogus charges and the alleged evidence have been kept secret.

But according to TheAge.com (March 30) details of the bogus allegations emerged.

• Pell is accused of sexually assaulting two choir members at Melbourne’s St Patrick’s Cathedral in the late 1990s when he was Melbourne Archbishop although in these occasions he never was alone and other choir members denied having seen anything untoward.

• He is accused of committing offences at a Ballarat pool but staff denied ever having seen anything suspicious.

• He is accused of offences inside a cinema during a screening of Close Encounters of the Third Kind in the late 1970s. But a cinema manager witnessed he did not remember ever seeing Pell at the theatre.

During the hearings, Cardinal Pell maintained an unflinchingly calm demeanour.
