The Greeks fight back! Citizens reinstall vandalised cross monument that ‘insulted migrants’

As we recently reported a large cross monument on the Greek Orthodox Christian island of Lesbos was levelled to the ground.
This, after a group claiming to promote intercultural coexistence, argued that the cross could be perceived as ‘offensive’ to the predominantly Muslim boat migrants.
The destroyed cross monument earlier this week.
Lesbos society decided to fight back and reinstall the vandalised cross. This morning some angered citizens of Lesbos decided to reinstall the orthodox Christian Symbol at the spot.
In video footage of Russia Today (RT) local citizens say:
“This was an act of hate!! This cross was made by reinforced concrete, they used heavy tools to level the cross to the ground… We don’t want any troubles but we won’t accept this behaviour.. It is unacceptable!!!”
In addition the islanders have risen and they declare that they are determined to contribute financially to reinstall the cross, the symbol of Orthodoxy, in its place.
According to RT, local residents used rocks from the area to get the cross standing again. They say that it is a temporary measure and that a large cross should be put up in its place.
In fact, Facebook has been overwhelmed in the last 24 hours by groups and users who say that an even larger cross will be rebuilt on the same spot.
