After the Three Days of Darkness

I mentioned recently that the Northeastern nun saw what will come after the Three Days of Darkness: a manifestation of Jesus in heaven. While she was receiving the revelation, she experienced in advance the phenomenon of the illumination of consciousness that we will all experience in the future.

She mystically saw all her faults, from the time she had attained the use of reason until that present day, from the smallest to the greatest. It was an intellectual vision, with clear and literal images. It was like a movie playing in her mind.

She realized that if she died right then, she wouldn't go straight to Heaven, because there were aspects of her that needed to be purified. She understood the real feelings and intentions she had when she committed each sin, both those she had committed with full awareness of the error and those she had committed out of weakness of soul or lack of mortification.

He also felt a sense of deep contrition and sorrow such as he had never felt before, which led him to weep for days. He didn't cry out of mere external emotion, but his tears had deep roots: they were shed out of the sadness of his own soul. The pain of knowing that he had offended God, whom he loved so much, made him want to die before he offended him again. He felt crushed, as if the weight of his guilt were constantly on him. She remembered David's expression in Psalm 50: "My sin is always before me."

She saw herself as God sees her. She became aware of who she really was, shattering all the false images that it is human habit to create.

Today, with every act of contrition, examination of conscience and confession she makes, she is more aware of her faults, the seriousness of her sins and the penalties caused by them, which she constantly seeks to repair. She remained clear about her condition as a sinner.

What gave her the strength not to despair of salvation was the permanent memory of the Crucified Christ seen in heaven. That vision imprinted in her heart a deep trust in God's infinite mercy. If she hadn't seen him that way, she wouldn't have been able to see herself or know God's mercy so clearly.

I will now talk about a revelation she had a few days later, in which the meaning of this manifestation of Jesus in heaven was explained to her.
