Bishop Georg Bätzing of Limburg, Germany, wants the [invalid] ordination
of women to the priesthood, he told Welt.de (December 22).
His
religion: The theological clarifications on women as sacramental deacons
and priests have progressed so far that this could be made possible.
Bishop
Bätzing returned to Germany "very satisfied" from the Ex-Synod in Rome.
The final document did not negate the ordination of women: "There must
be openness to regional solutions for many ecclesial issues."
In
Germany, "the theological arguments for the admission of women to
sacramental ministries" had already been "compiled" at the German Synod,
Monsignor Bätzing said. This text was approved by two-thirds of the
German bishops [who also agreed on transgender "priests"].
