Angels in an Exorcism

Exorcist Diary #229: Angels in an Exorcism

The session was spinning out of control.  The afflicted person, fully manifesting, amazingly broke out of the strong physical restraints.  His fists started flying and the exorcist feared for everyone's safety.  In a firm voice, he invoked the Angelic Powers to restrain the demons.  Immediately, the energumen's arms dropped and his body went limp.  The team quickly put the restraints back in place.  He started to thrash again, but this time, he was even more firmly secured.

Another of our priests was praying over a small group of people using deliverance and healing prayers.  He invoked the nine choirs of angels by name and especially called upon Sts. Michael, Raphael, and Gabriel.  Then, every one of the group felt the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit and rested in a deep peace and consolation.  Two of them reported physical healings- one felt a kind of fire in her arthritic knees and, so far, can now walk without pain.  The other claimed to have been healed from a tumor.

Becoming more cognizant of the powerful intervention of the angels in our sessions, we are regularly using the "Breastplate of St. Patrick."*  When we get to the invocation of the angels, we repeat it several times to great effect: "I bind N. today to the virtue of ranks of Cherubim, in obedience of Angels, in service of Archangels...."

As an exorcist, I feel close to the angels.  They are our constant companions.  But sometimes I forget how powerful their intercession is.  Moments such as these remind us that they are given to wield God's power and the sword of the Spirit. I thank God for such powerful and beautiful friends.  I will call upon them in every session.
