Monsignor Battista Ricca, the director of Santa Marta who has been
implicated in homosexual scandals in Latin America and Rome, has
announced that his promoter, Pope Francis, will have to remain isolated
in the bedroom of his apartment for at least two months.
As a result, no hotel guest will be allowed to enter the second floor where Francis lives, writes IlTempo.it (25 March).
The
task of keeping Francis isolated falls mainly to the two men closest to
him: his personal health assistant, Massimiliano Strappetti, and his
private secretary, Don Juan Cruz Villalón.
Francis, who had
chosen Sancta Marta to surround himself with people and who had spoken
of an "outgoing" Church, is now confined to his room.
On Monday,
the Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin, said that for the moment only
the most important dossiers were being presented to Francis and that a
resumption of public audiences and meetings was "unthinkable".
The important thing is to prevent Francis from contracting infections.
