Leo XIV ’s handpicked Archbishop Ronald Hicks, 58, took office as the new Archbishop of New York on Friday.
In
his former diocese of Joliet, Archbishop Hicks employed a homosexual
chancellor, and his vicar general attended his homosex "wedding" on 13
December 2025.
In his effeminately delivered homily on Friday,
Archbishop Hicks called for a church that “cares for creation, builds
bridges, listens, and protects children; promotes healing for survivors;
and supports all those who have been wounded by the church”.
He said that his church “shows respect for all”, thus including paedophiles, polluters and Nazis.
During
the sermon, he made references to the lyrics of various songs about New
York City. Among them was the line from a song that a certain "Bad
Bunny" recently covered (video below). "Bad Bunny" is the stage name of
Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, a Puerto Rican rapper who is very fluid
with gender expression (fashion, nail polish, skirts, kissing men in
performances) and outspoken in support of homosexuals.
The
reference Bad Bunny’s song “NUEVAYoL” came alongside lyrics from Billy
Joel’s “New York State of Mind,” Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind,” and
Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York.” The Bad Bunny quote drew some of
the most raucous applause, according to AmericaMagazine.org.
After
the installation Mass, Archbishop Ronald Hicks spoke to the press,
saying that he was looking forward to eating New York–style pizza to
celebrate Super Bowl Sunday. He added that this meant he "had to" eat
pizza.
He made similar comments during his first press conference
in December, when he revealed that he is a fan of the Chicago Cubs and
enjoys deep-dish pizza. During that same appearance, he also said that
he loves New York–style pizza and plans to support New York sports
teams.
(It is highly inappropriate to make so many references to` pizza´ at a time when the Pizzagate-Epstein documents are coming to light: “pizza” implies sexual abuse of young girls.)
